In rare instances, people live to 110 years and beyond, inspiring a new demographic label: supercentenarian. The Gerontology Research Group, through rigorous investigation of records, acknowledges about 65 supercentenarians, and estimates that about 350 are alive worldwide today.

The idea to photograph people who have lived in three centuries evolved over the course of the project. First, I was simply interested in taking portraits of people who appear worn beyond their years by living extraordinarily hard lives. Those experiences drew me to centenarians, and on to supercentenarians and their stories.

People consistently ask the same questions when viewing the portraits: How does a person live to be 114 years old? What do these long-lived people have in common that makes many of them look younger than people in their 90s, 80s and even 70s? The notes on aging is a short review of the current research on longevity.

The experience of talking with a 110 year-old man whose father stood next to Abraham Lincoln during the Gettysburg Address does not easily lend itself to words. A photograph seemed appropriate.

— Mark Story, September, 2005

The Seven Swords (of Mount Heaven)

The Heaven's Fall

Wu Yuanying's sword, this sword is an elemental sword of water. When using the sword, the handle has holes like a wind-pipe instrument that responds to the control of the handle. This gives Wu Yuanying the ability to change the direction of the sword from one end to the next on battle. Because this sword responds to water, this sword is most deadly when wet. Energy can be focused into the sword and then use the water droplets as weapons and even projectiles. It's full potential wasn't fully realized until near the end of the episode.

The Dragon

It's considered the strongest weapon amongst the seven. Its construction is unique because it has a special steel ball inside that reacts while in combat. While moving the sword the ball inside the hilt chamber makes vibrations and sounds that can confuse the enemy's ears and strike fear in other warriors hearing its distinct whistle. Dokatdo figured the sword's weakness and used it against Chu Zhaonan. The sword's vibrations can be noticed by human ears and if carefully listening onto the sounds you can figure out the movements of the sword and predict Chu Zhaonan's attack. The sword itself reacts violently against the Transience and repels the energy that emits from Transience. Should the swords successfully strike at each other, both swords will be magnetically locked down to each other as a way to neutralize each others power.

The Deity

This sword was one of the first swords created by Master Shadow-Glow. The sword itself is thick and heavy for strength and power. The sword never saw combat, only used to help mine the cave of Tian-Shan. Master Shadow-Glow saw through the personality of Han Zhibang and granted him "The Deity". Through Han Zhibang "The Deity" has went through a lot of battle. The raw energy that the sword emits chi waves that can destroy light objects at a distance. When properly wielded by Han Zhibang, the sword can emit devastating energy that can destroy waves of soldiers. The Deity is often paired up with The Celestial Beam in combat.

The Unlearnt

The sword itself doesn't have any real special abilities; however, it's also the weapon that has the least blood on it. Fu Qingzhu once used this sword to kill many people. After it was reborn in Tian Shan, Fu Qingzhu refused to use any murderous force with this sword so he kept it inside its scabbard the entire time. Fu Qingzhu often uses his chi to channel energy into the sword like the rest of the warriors, but with the sword still locked inside so that he would only neutralize his opponents. In the final battle to kill Dokatdo, Fu Qingzhu finally unleashed his sword and used it to kill a powerful warrior that served under Dokatdo. In the aftermath the sword and Fu Qingzhu left to find the whereabouts to reunited the seven swords again. In the movie version Unlearnt already drew blood as Fu Qingzhu used it to cut off the arm of Fire-Wind's henchmen as a message.

The Star-Chasers

The Star-Chasers are the smallest pair of blades, but with interesting properties. There are differences between the movie version and the TV series. In the TV series the bottom contains a metal ball that can strangely bond when the wielder becomes enraged. When that happens the swords bottom tip will bond and a rope will extend forth from the pair swords. This feature allows Xin Longzi to attack at greater distances and allow him to force his attacks to back off at a safer distance. When bonded Xin Longzi must be in calm state of control or the weapon can strike back. In the movie there was no bonding with the weapon because it was done to make it more realistic. The movie version showed the sword can be extended by flinging hard on the weapon. The hilt and handle will remain with the wielder, while the blade part can extend to strike at more than five feet. When facing the pair within their radius of attack the pair can cut down anyone with swift speed.

The Transience

The sword was created out of a meteorite and because of that has unique properties. It's roughly made compared to the other fine smooth surfaces of the other six swords, but its lack of beauty doesn't negate its powers. The sword's composition gives it an unusual ability of magnetism and light emission. When Yang Yuncong uses his sword, powerful magnetic energy is emitted as well as light to blind and confuse the attackers. Dokatdo took notice of the sword while witnessing a battle between Yang Yuncong and Chu Zhaonan. Yang Yuncong's master believed Chu Zhaonan may stray from the righteous path and this sword is the dragon's opposite and both swords have greater violent reactions in combat or training. Yang Yuncong in the final events against Dokatdo lost the sword while suffering from severe injuries and Dokatdo took Transience to fight against Chu Zhaonan. In the end Chu Zhaonan retrieved the sword and returned it to Yang Yuncong, but it was already too late cause Yang Yuncong died from extensive injuries against Dokatdo's master. In the movie the sword's magnetic abilities were proven so strong that it can tear out thin sheets of metal while in combat.

The Celestial Beam

The sword is actually a pair of swords that's taken the form of one. When properly used, Celestial Beam's true powers shine in battle. The movie version is made to be more realistic, so the movie version of the sword was larger and longer without special effects. Both versions can split the blades into two swords, but the movie version simply detaches into a second blade. The TV version requires higher wielding skills to bring out it's "invisible" counterpart. The TV version's Celestial Beam is smaller and is about the size of a long sword, while the other sword is about the size of a Tai Chi sword. When the smaller version release itself into battle, the sword can fly around almost as if flying like boomerang with the other sword guiding it's direction. Because the other sword can be treated as a projectile, the smaller counterpart can be used almost like a flying kunai. Though not considered to be the strongest sword, it's main advantage is range and power when combining with Deity.

Seven Swords of Mount Heaven (aka Seven Swordsmen) is a series based on the work of famous wuxia novelist Liang Yusheng.

Let's thank the WIKI for all the material above, which I just took from here. I try to keep things in a very civil "you do your thing, I'll do mine" mindset, but sometimes certain actions, usually on other people's parts - seep into my reality, and I end up getting annoyed.

A recent topic: positive racism. I'm so over the whole race card, it's not even funny anymore. But in this day and age, it seems people LOVE to bring up the race card in "positive" light... for example the last SuperBowl, apparently both coaches were black. OK... what's your point?

Guess what assholes? If you are to this day, bringing up the fact that you're so NOT a racist, because you do A or B for them... You're right up there with the (still very proud, ignorant and alive) regular racists.

We're in a society were sensitivity is getting out of control. Take the above Starbucks ad into scope for example. This ad tried to run back in 2002, but it was halted and removed because it was apparently very "insensitive" and "disgusting" - people swore never to return as customers after seeing this. The dragonfly, the "collapse" and the two objects side-by-side, with a larger height than girth. Well, apparently the consensus is: Starbucks is evil.

Well, they are, but that's neither here nor there.

Does that image put you into a rage? Is it insensitive? My favorite part of the whole thing is that these are the people who are able to find the utmost hidden meanings, metaphors and symbolisms in items of everyday pop-culture. Be it music, be it film, be it caffeinated beverage ads... but still find it in their hearts to believe, quite literaly in a book that is nothing more than a work of fiction. God forbid, there might be metaphor and symbolism in the prose. Jesus THE christ! read some other books.

Some people piss me right off. *sigh*

Just a top 5 List of Games I like...

Yes, I am a gamer... and yes, I suck terribly at it. But that doesn't stop me from being there from the moment I could... which was the 80s for me. I know a lot of you think you're cooler cause of your ataris, but ataris suck balls and you know it. It's all about NINTENDO. Suck it dry.

Behold, my TOP 5... by series, screw choosing.

5. Street Fighter Series (Fighter category)
Two things make this game sweet, Chun-Li's legs. Aside from that, using Ken is freakin' sweet. The controls are tight, if you die in this game, that's because you pushed the wrong button and/or didn't push it at all. Back when there was mostly only Street Fighter II, learning ALL the moves was the thing to do. When this baby made it to the SNES - I kicked all of my little cousin's asses left and right. And there's very little out there that could fix that.
Runner ups: Mortal Kombat & Soulcalibur series.

4. Mario Bros. Series (Side-scroller category)
If you don't like Mario then that's probably because you're retarded. The best thing about mario are the tight controls and the variety of games this franchise has spawned. Including, yet not limited to: a blockbuster mediocre film that you know you went to watch at the movie theatre and of course, Mario Party - the best spin-off of the series. Let's completely ignore the 'sports' sidetrack - and let's now focus on the main games... they rule. End of story. Let's move on.
Runner ups: Mega Man & Contra series.

3. Grand Theft Auto Series (Action/Driving/Guns category)
Don't come at me with any stories about how this game is bad for the children, because every child (particularly boys) who wants to grow some knows that this is it. The games are, summed up in one word: AWESOME. From the sweet 80s soundtrack that the Vice City ones brought, to the extremely large world that was San Andreas - lest not forget that you can drive while listening to music and plowing down pedestrians (like all other games wanted to since the beginning of gaming but were, A: too much of a pussy to do it, or had retards for programmers.) you can also have sex with hookers for health, and best of you get respect. if only Rodney Dangerfield had played this game, he would have died a happy man; but he didn't, so that kind of sucks.
Runner ups: Metal Gear & Burnout series.

2. God of War Series (Adventure category)
This series are awesome, not because they brought anything new to the gaming world, but because they pulled of what many promised to - the gameplay is epic, has sweet music & tons of mythological beasties you get to gore. Also there's tits. Our hero is bad-ass and the game allows you to show your quality in a quest that's not just unlike others wanted to... but the way we deserve it. Now, if for the sequels we can start going into other mythos, then this company can earn my hard earned cash... once they hit the Greatest Hits stands.
Runner ups: Zelda & Final Fantasy series.

1. Resident Evil Series (Survival horror category)
These series are so utterly awesome I can't even begin. From the time the pixelated zombie turns at you after enjoying the most horrendous video opening in the Playstation version, to the recent ground breaking Resident Evil 4... you all know who is boss. I remember playing RE 2 on the PS and just spending hours upon hours on those suckers. And when they released Resident Evil for gamecube, that game is still one of the most beautiful pieces of magic I've ever bestowed my time upon. With awesome titles such as Codename: Veronica, and a slew of crap spin-offs, PLUS as amazingly weak big blockbuster movie franchise. You all need to bow down and enjoy some sweet zombie action... plus the puzzles just piss you off enough to grant you an Indiana Jones badge. Oh, and before I forget... Jill Valentine is smoking.
Runner ups: Silent Hill & Castlevania series.

Great, we're done here for now... in the meantime, keep a lid on it & you're welcomed.

Communitarianism & the Idiocracy of Mankind

I'm not a Trekkie, but I've seen the movies and I have at least twice seen almost a full episode of any of the given series. Some of my friends however, do consider themselves Trekkies and from time to time the topic of the society in this series of films and TV series comes to conversation.

It's almost an utopia, or so it sounds like to me. Basically there is no money, most if not all are well educated, the common interest of the whole of mankind... is... surprisingly: MANKIND.

The times in which we live, it's hard for me to not get upset on an almost daily basis. There's many reasons why you can't quite "care for your each other" - and you can almost point at something, everytime you think about it.

I'm not about to start pointing any names, because in reality, EVERYONE is at fault. There's no need for the blaming game when we're ALL at fault. At some point in history, the idea of communism - which stands for COMMUNITY last time I heard, is as good as EVIL. At some point in history, the idea of having a belief or a faith, became a government and international diplomatics - instead of making everyone love one another (which, last I heard that's what they preach) it divides nations, peoples and families.

Let's not even mention the big companies, which instead of helping mankind grow and evolve, focus on making more and more money - honestly, at what point will the big cheese ever have ENOUGH money? It's ridiculous how much better of everyone would be at this point if we focused more on the goal, on the path mankind should be focusing on, which is, oddly enough, ourselves.

And fuck the children, I care for me right now, but me right now really wants we as a whole, to grow and be better.

There's a million causes out there, what's yours? I couldn't care less about animal rights or organic foods. To be quite honest, the list of things that would make me happy are rather... simpler, here's a few examples - and oddly enough, if any of these were to be made possible, a lot of money would start to be less available for very smart and very powerful people.

Just a list of first thoughts, and not at all a final by any means:

A vehicle that doesn't run by means of internal combustion. It's the year 2007, seriously folks, these damn cars have existed since the beginning of the 20th century. What's up with that?

A healthcare system that is based on tax-payers money. When every other smart country in Europe can handle this one, it's kind of dumb not to follow suit and/or move there.

Population Control. I don't know you, but I'm really tired of the educated/well-of people holding out on having kids and/or having 2 to 3 kids, when the not-as-educated (read:dumb)/financially-unstable(read:poor) have kids on a yearly basis. Can we start dealing with this? I don't care how inhumanely it gets at this point.

A multi-focused Education System. At the stage we're in, the idea of college sounds like bullshit to a LOT of folks. I'm not surprised at all, certain people can do certain things better than other, while others can pull certain other things off, and so on. An education system focused almost entirely on Math and Language is going to leave you with a LOT of drop-outs. And a lot of these people while not dumb, will miss out on the so-called college-education if this isn't fixed. Add some friggin' ARTS to the requirements, for starters. Then go from there...

I'm serious, I don't want to go all Ra's al Ghul on your asses. I'm not religious and even I love you and yours MORE than you claim to love one another. And who is at fault? YOU. Not the government, not the companies... YOU. Because you just sit down and mope about it, but NOTHING gets done or spoken. I for one, BLAME the bum for not getting his SHARE.

This is like The Matrix (to put it in terms many will understand) but a lot Sadder, Dissapointing and Disgusting.

</CENTER

Looks like...

Aaron from work is lending me God of War II, therefore, I think that my progress on Psychonauts will have to take a back-burner seat. But that said... let's go ahead and continue.

The words almost escape me... a few years ago, kids that were their age listened to such crap as: Backstreet Boys (with a Z?), N*sync (with a K?), Britney Spears... and whatever other POP crap there might have been at the time.

We complained ad-nauseum about what crap the entire POP category was, with songs that were mostly if not all in the R&B and Teeny Bob genre. About how it was possible the parents allowed their kids to listen to such crap and what on earth people heard in their songs that could possibly drive them to PAY for the CDs and concerts. (I myself did enjoy a couple tunes, won't lie, but I would have NEVER paid good money for the crap.)

Cut to a few years ago, and suddenly the kids are all listening to what they refer to as "PUNK" - that's a whole new topic I won't jump into, but suffice it to say. For all intents and purposes, they're listening to POP.

Most of these bands actually sound kind of alright, but if there's a department that SUCKS, it would be the singing. Apparently singing is no big deal these days.

Aside from dating myself and acting like a "grown-up" who doesn't "get it" - I will say this... I DO get it, I have heard it... and it straight out sucks. There's no real soul behind it. The music sounds, it would seem... like Etherial POP.

What happened? The new kids actually do enjoy the good ROCK, the parents did a sort of alright job there (or was it the older siblings?) - but then they started to choose their own bands, and with the power of the almighty dollar, the new ROCKERS were born. A bunch of teenaged kids who can barely hold a tune, much less hold an audience for longer than 10 years. (Want to place some bets?)

But then there's the OTHER new kids, who we ALSO complain about. These ones claim to like what WE used to like... back... in the day... when THEY themselves... were probably being MADE.

And we laugh... but you know what?

Weren't we complaining that they didn't listen to the good tunes, well, now they claim to do so... so what's wrong? I seriously doubt the music in itself has much to do with. Now I'm beginning to think we just don't like them period. We're too elitist at this age that we find it hard to believe the neighbor's little boy/girl has grown up to like music that we could like.

Personally, I WANT to like "NEW STUFF" - and often times I do. Mostly I get the new CDs from bands I've always liked. But from time to time, I'll pick up something new, and whenever that happens, trust me... I couldn't be happier. It brings me hope.

I know sometime soon, again, singing will be important again. And yes, I'll listen to your bands you like...

Except for Fall Out Boy or Yellowcard, they SUCK.

Cheers.

Team Fortress 2

These days I'm beginning to lean more towards the future purchase of a PS3. I'm not insane or rich, therefore this purchase won't take place until maybe AFTER Christmas. That's a tall order, considering I love playing Vgames.

I'm told this to many people before, so I'll repeat myself - while I DO consider myself a "gamer" - I'm actually not very skilled at any particular game. I'm pretty much below average I think... but I couldn't care less, that's why there's "EASY MODE."

Why a PS3? Well, you're right among all the new "next-gen" consoles, this one is probably the one who gets the most frowns. But once considered, it pretty much matches the 360 in graphics, it plays Blu-Ray and since I really don't much concern myself with online play (like I said, I suck, so why would I want to go up against REAL gamers? - then the 360 edge doesn't really appeal to me.

The 360 is actually very very enticing to me right now, I've played it and it actually has some pretty choice titles... among them: DEAD RISING and GEARS OF WAR - are perhaps the ones I have the most interest in. I've seen the machine in action, and I must say, I'm very impressed by it.

The Wii has been my choice for the longest time, but if we put this into consideration... I can still play my gamecube games on my cube. The people I would play it with, ALREADY have a Wii - so in reality I need to buy myself a Wii controller - so as to store my Mii and all that jazz. And let's not forget, most of the Wii's awesome games are multi-player, since I need other people to play it with, I might as well visit the people that have the Wii and play it there. No? After all, most Mario party nights took place at my apartment, I guess it's time for me to drive to THEIR place now. And yes, it's OH SO FUN.

But prey tell, what makes me want a PS3 then? The games... I like my game title franchises... GOD OF WAR 3 is for Sony, GTA is for both the 360 and PS3 so all is well. And then there's TEAM FORTRESS 2 - this game looks sweeeeet!!!

Add to that, that it plays my PS2 titles - and why not wait, all the good titles are coming out the end of the year. So the plan is: wait it out, wait for an "elite" version of the damn machine. Hey, I'm patient... I can wait it out. No problem. I still have a few titles on the PS2 to beat. MY room, when I first originally wanted to do this, I was in San Marcos... so this is slightly different, but for all intents and purposes - this is what my room looks like today:

Welcome to my room... you are standing by the bathroom entrance right now - that's just weird.

1. This is the drawing table of doom. I sit at this table about once a week... recently mostly. Been working on the computer downstairs mostly.

2. The computer upstairs is my G4 that I've had for a few several years, 7 maybe? It basically works perfectly fine for coloring and doing digital artwork.

3. I found this chair on the curb, and surprisingly, it looks great in the picture... in real life it has a few stains on the arm rests that I DID NOT make... you get to sit on it.

4. I keep a copy of my batman books near at all times. You never know when the dark knight could strike.

5. The BED is where all the action happens... such as: guests crashing, me sitting on, me laying on to read something, or me changing clothes... yes, much nudity times.

6. Reading Material is a very important item in ones room. There are booth english and spanish texts here. From Fight Club to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy... which I am yet to finish.

7. This Eternal Sunshine... banner is from my stint as a movie theatre employee. There's quite a few awesome items like this in my collection. Some could be valuable... eBay?

1. The posting board is where I pin important items, I recently took many of the iteams down. And it is back to basics... notice my awesome items... GRINDHOUSE teaser mini-posters. Comic-Coooooon!

2. No artist is without his/her artist tools in my case... I limit myself so pens and color pens, because I do any and all coloring digitally now... so there. I like my eraser shavings brush... so proud.

3. My ergonomically designed chair of drawing actions - this is where I often sit when I draw all sorts of things... which like mentioned before, not very often recently.

4. My Alien & Predator items. I have some alien toys and this sweet Predator bust. You can barely see them, but trust me, it's ace.

5. 100 points if you know what this is... give up? Escaflowne is one of my favorite series ever. Whatever happened to the classics? *sigh* I still don't own the complete series... so... hint hint.

6. Masters of the Universe rock the world. This is not my entire collection, they're in a box, sadly... but in the meantime I have a few favorites, including of course, my sweet sweet Hordak bust.

7. My sexy Asian Girlfriend - this is as close as I've gotten to one. She's this toy that has a great harajouku/tohic lolita flair to her. Love it. If only more girls knew what to wear.

1. Crisps that Churny brought from the UK for me to have. I still consider eating them... I should, I totally should and then just keep the wrapper. *sigh* Yes... maybe.

2. I got this light table from Deena cause in a fit of rage I destroyed my older one. This one is a lot cooler though. Now I can totally trace and do animation type things. Ace.

3. The Thing, I actually bought this action figure a while back, from the Marvel Legends series, I just really like it - not entirely sure why... he's not even a favorite character of mine, but the action figure is. Odd.

4. This is my cabinet where I keep a lot of drawings, sketchbooks, scripts, and just art files in general. If you are ever interested in what projects I had going 10 years ago... it's probably here.

5. This is my Wacom tablet for drawing on the computer. The damn thing didn't work perfectly with my G5, so I had to put it to work on the G4. Serious artists own larger tablets... poor ones use this one.

6. Kleenex tissues, because I am a prepared man. Just sayin'

7. Deena unearthed these totally hot pictures of herself, from like 10 years ago. And if she is ok with me liking them... then it's not perverted. Totally HOT.

1. These are the Last Samurai banners that I got from work, there IS a typo on one of them - but overall it's quite awesome... you'll understand when you're there.

2. This is my Satan's School for Lust poster, and I LOVE it. It's a Mistie Mundae flick, and I haven't seen it either. Underneath it in the poster case: Alien

3. My katana & shini - yes, if you break into my house there's more than ONE katana... you wouldn't get shot, but I am jonesin' to find out what this baby does to criminal-scum's neck. But that's normal, right?

4. I put crap under my bed... but it's not as bad as your crap. I know exactly what it is, and where... I do NOT like messy rooms... and that includes under the bed.

5. Yes, next to the bed there is a Mirror and that's the closet... so, that said... let's move on to #6.

6. That is my crotch... if you're a lady, I need to see some ID. If you're a dude... proceed to number 7.

7. That's me telling you to sod off... which translates to: have a great day, and talk to you later.

----

And that is all for now.
Cheers

I've been left out of something RICH!!!

Just today I decided to (duh) do some research on Danny Elfman (nothing serious, just youtubing it) and then I found myself contemplating Richard Elfman's craziness... now... I just know that I liked them, period.

In fact, if I was to put the DVD on and watch any of them with you, there's perhaps only two of them I'd comfortably watch, the others I'd feel like you would be bored beyond all that if posible. Thereby reducing my enjoyment of it. Which is really why I don't put these DVDs on when I have company.

That said, feel free to let me know how much you think these suck, or more unlikely, if you actually like them:

5. The Pest (1997)
This John Leguizamo vehicle came out in the late nineties, I think at about the time when Jim Carrey was exploding into the extratosphere with a myriad of films, soon after the release of this film, you will notice that John didn't make that many comedies anymore, and can be seen a lot more often as a more "dramatic" actor. I really dig his one man shows, I believe I caught most of his HBO specials. What I really like about this movies is the straight out sillyness of it all, it's a ridiculous plot with a ridiculous set of events, but at the time when "Ace Ventura" was ruling the screen, a latin version came as a great snack between lunches. And no, the latino card plays nothing to it. Favorite moment? The explanation behind the pet snake's name... Cocteau... Cocktoe... yeah, that's it.

4. The Bear (1988)
I saw this movie in the movie theatre with my mom when it came out, and this movie totally rules all that is holy. At least to me it does. It tells the tale of an orphaned bear cub who follows the path of a older grizzly, hilarity, heartwarming, the horror that is man, nature, shrums, this movie has it all. Yes, mushrooms... the bear does mushroom s at some point. What can I say, this movie is the best coming of age film that I saw in the 80s.

3. Baby Boy (1988)
Most people, I am sure, prefer Singleton's Higher Learning and Boyz 'N the Hood - and so do I. But this one, I know a lot of people couldn't care less about. And guess what? I love it. It hit all the right parts for me. What really spoke to me, was the film in its entirety, that of a grown male becoming a man, the guy has two kids with two different women, lives with his mother, has no job, tries to live large, but he is not yet a man, through the course of this film, he grows up, and that is after all, something that I had a hard time doing, if not, still am having a problem with. Cheers.

2. My Life (1993)
Dude, this movie had me bawling when I saw it for the first time, it's not only a tearjerker, but it really brought me to terms with what being a father really is. Or maybe that's what I took from it. The film revolves around this man played by Michael Keaton, who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and whose wife just became pregnant. He begins making videos in which he "teaches" his son all about himself and his life. And hell, that sounds like such an awesome thing to have had growing up. There's plenty of touching moments throughout the film, this could be categorized as a "chick-flick" for all intents and purposes.

1. Bringing Out The Dead (1993)
This movie rules, it's such a great film that for some reason I don't see a lot of people truly liking, but if there's a movie in this list that I think you probably like, it would be this one. I just don't recommend it at all, maybe I just understimate everyone. Hell. Regardless, this is a Nicolas Cage vehicle - it was directed by Martin Scorsese. It's the story of a paramedic on the brink of losing his sanity, and seeking redemption, seriously, what else can you ask for? This one is a film above the others.

----

Alright then. Many films I was debating making the list didn't make it for the simple reason that... they didn't meet the guidelines. remember - Films You Probably didn't know I liked. Simple as that. The others were rather easy to assume, or perhaps many of you already knew I liked.

For example, I was about to add a few Nick Hornby based classics, but I have friends in common that enjoy them, so I ommited them - High Fidelity and About a Boy.

I think it's about PASTA

Real quick post, but you HAVE to enjoy this, it's the most amazing thing in a while. And of course, I enjoyed it the most.

There were "rings" back there too, it linked personal sites to others, it allowed for complete strangers to wind up at your page almost daily, by the dozens. That's not so much the case now.

Enter MYSPACE - everyone and their mothers are now able to share picstures, blogs, music preferences, movie preferences, hell, people can even coment on your profile! In all honesty - I love it. I was able to get in touch with friends from Highschool, friends from my past in general - it's pretty sweet.

Except for the fact that - I have no clue as to where the personal webpages went.

One good thing however is that now, anybody who can read and write, can actually create their own profile on myspace, that is a good thing, people who would barely if ever share their thoughts or pictures, now CA do so with such a site.

But if you have the skills, fucking flaunt it all over... seriously. Don't get lazy!

I remember back then, about 5 years ago, the creative domain names - the creative people, I bet more than half of these boys and girls are now working as web designers. We grabed the HTML empire by the balls and took it for a ride. A very personal ride.

A ride I will try to recreate all over. And I surely hope others will join me.

In fact, if you haver a personal website - with your own blog, with your own pictures, with your own domain, that YOU yourself made. And didn't just fabricate with automated crazyness - then let me know, and I will put you in my LINKS section.

In the meantime, I have to be honest and admit that - that was a great and awesome era. The era of the personal websites.

Back when in order to share your pictures and thoughts, you spent hours upon hours on photoshop (many on trial versions) and notepad, Bbedit, cuteFTP, you name it. Those were the days.

I need a beer.
